The Laundry Room – Before and After!
It’s finally finished! (almost, lol!) But it’s definitely finished enough to give you guys the full reveal!!
You all remember the before picture, right?? Looked pretty crappy. The only things we’ve kept are the washing machine, dryer, sink and boiler. Everything else is in some junkyard.
We (or I) decided to really go to town with this redo. We spend so much time doing laundry, so why is so often that the laundry room the ugliest room in the house? We went for a modern chinoserie look where the lovely wallpaper from Osborne&Little is the guest of honor. :) We have a mix between brass and steel that I’m totally loving. The Chanel pictures are vintage, and was bought in a little market in Antibes outside Nice in France about 10 years ago. The frames were bought in antique shops.
Here you can see some of the contrast between the brass and the steel. The tray is by Danish House Doctor and was bought at Cilla Interiør in Oslo, and I LOVE it! The milk glass vases are from ebay and the brass vase from a local fleamarket and cost me about $1 (5 kr).
These deli jars from Danish Eva Solo is one of my favorite features! I wanted something different for the laundry detergent and these are just SO perfect!! They’re really good to hold with the slim “neck” and the lid is easy to remove, but is at the same time air tight.
Another favorite feature are my vintage brass pulls from ebay (of course). The soap dispenser is from Danish Lisbeth Dahl bought at Cilla Interiør in Oslo. This image also reveals what’s next on the to do list. Can you see what’s missing?? The drawers are from IKEA, with the super cheap fronts, Appläd.
The large cabinet (also from IKEA, Appläd fronts) is like my whet storage dream! I wanted some different brass pulls here, to avoid it from being too matchy matchy and these are a strong nod to the chinoserie wallpaper.
This little guy is a total favorite! I’m still trying to find the “grown up” version of it – but it’s hard to come by!
The mirror (brass frame with nails around it) is another flea market find, and was $2. The ironing board was reupholstered with this fabric that Camila posted about a while ago. (THANK you Camila!!). The little lucite box is from IKEA and was almost free. (also around $2-3)

The flooring is another favorite of mine. Remember, this is a laundry room – my original plan was to get striped vinyl, but it was to expensive, so we opted for black+white tiles. Looks pretty chic too, doesn’t it? The light fixture was also a $2 flea market find that was brass, but I spray painted it moss green. The Manila/Bamboo chair (also flea market find, $20) got a coat of black spray paint.
Other things that I forgot to mention… We painted the ceiling glossy white and installed floor heating. (which I LOVE!!) You might have noticed that I don’t have a laundry basket – I do, but it’s totally unchic! Am looking for a new one!
Hope you liked it!!

As I said in a previous comment of mine, I adore the wallpaper! Turquoise & white is absolutely chic! You did a great job, lady! And that woven mini-chair is too cute! Chanel prints in the laundry? CHIC CHIC CHIC!

Okay … WOW sier nå bare jeg. Rett og slett bare WOW! :)
Wow! I actually came here because I was interested in seeing how people in other countries decorate their home. To see different styles and designs and I need to say I am impressed of what you made out of this laundry room and how many small but fine decorative details you have added. Great Job!
WOW! Alt jeg har å si.
Litt av en forandring du.
Flink har du vært :)
Må jo være en drøm å være husmor nå :)
Klem

What an incredible before and after! I would never have thought they were the same room. You have impeccable taste and an amazing eye. The wallpaper, floors, light fixture, mirrors - I love it all!
Jeg er utrolig glad for at dere som er norske liker rommet!! Det er jo forholdsvis langt fra det hvite som dominerer her om dagen!

Thank you so much, and I totally thin we should all start "glamourizing" our laundry rooms!! (I can't think of much that's less glamorous, actually... :))
Wow, vilken skillnad, det blev superfint!
Kram
It looks great. I'm in love with that wallpaper!!!
So happy I could help with the fabric!
How chic that you chose Chanel no5 for decor.
That bold wallpaper really makes a statement. I like!:)

oh, det blev soooo fiiint!!
I think I might be able to get excited about laundry if I had a room like this. LOVE what you have done.
Wow, beyond amazing transformation. I adore chinoiserie and you've really made your laundry room shine with it! It is now definitely a destination and must make doing the laundry so much nicer and possibly even something to look forward to. Just found your blog via chinoiserie chic and am so happy to be here!

The result is even more fab than I expected! Love the wallpaper and my favorite part is the framed chanel pictures, you can't go wrong with those, and I love that you placed them here. By bar the most chic laundry room in Scandinavia!!
So very charming, it would almost make spending time in there enjoyable. The wallpaper is outstanding.
Now this is a gorgeous laundry room! You are amazingly talented!
I accidently found this blog while looking for photos of coffered ceilings. I am so glad I landed here, instead! What a *beautiful* space!! And soooooo unique! I love that you painted the light moss green and not black. I love that you put up *wallpaper* (and it's so beautiful!). I love that you went "retro" with the floor. I LOVE that you took your flea market finds and made them stylish! I am amazed at your talent. :)
What a 180 degree transformation! The wallpaper made me hold my breath, and it was so clever of you to pair it with graphic flooring. Oh, and the miniature peacock chair is darling.
i think i have fallen in love with your laundry room, its just too good, the wall paper is so pretty and its color is amazing, the chest of drawers is pretty but i think you added life to it with the brass pulls, a very convienent and beautiful storage option
lovely laudry room although lovely is a word that i dont think people would associate with laundry cabinets, i really liked the wall paper and brought one in oriental style for my bedroom a month back and it was just lovely!!
