Book Review: Nordisk Eksotisk (Nordic Exotic)

I’m very excited to be reviewing Nordisk Eksotisk, the first book in the Visit series, carefully put together by the fabulous Iben & Niels Ahlberg.

In this book, you’ll get to visit the homes of trend setters from the fashion and art world in the Nordic countries, and let me tell you, you’re in for a treat!! Scandinavians travel a lot, and this is very visible in how they decorate their homes. Nordisk Eksotisk is focusing on this specific part of the Scandinavian/Nordic culture, and with great success.

The home of Peter and Sofie is a real gem, with a great collection of Asian artifacts combined with a fresh, Scandinavian color palette. In the top right photo, you can see the lamp by Danish Design by Us Milla was gushing over in her home tour.

This guest bath has an amazing atmosphere with the golden green mosaic tiles, and I love the framed moth :)

You’re going to love Kristina and Troels’ Nyhavn home. It has a very cosmopolitan vibe, and I think these guys would have a LOT to talk about with the Novogratz’. They’re heavily inspired by their frequent trips to Miami, NY and Mallorca (+ Troels also travels alone to more distant, remote locations, like Cameroun).

Nicoline’s workshop is wonderfully maximalistic, and you can feel how it’s easy to be creative in such a fantastic and colorful space!

The home of Naja Munthe is a real gem with it’s wonderful combinations of chinoiserie, Indian artifacts and Danish design classics. You WILL love the rest of this extensive spread.

What I love about this book, is that you REALLY get to see the homes. Each “spread” is about 20 pages which gives you a lot of insight, and not to mention eye candy and inspiration.
