Wild at Heart by Beata Boucht
Now, this wallpaper by the fabulous Swedish graphic designer, Beata Boucht, is right up our alley:
The wallpaper is from Photowall, and is custom order only. You can decide on the size of the pattern yourself (from very small to very large scale).
It's definitely a chic alternative to the ever popular floral patterns. And you definitely can't go wrong with pineapples!

Colors of 2011
Pantone named Honeysuckle Pink color of the year 2011. And I agreed. But I'm taking it upon myself to add an accent color as well.
My accent color for 2011 is
BRASS (gold)
By Kelly Wearstler, it's difficult to miss the brass, isn't it? I still think it's über fabulous and there's some fun and fearless elements that can easily transcend to the Scandinavian style aesthetic
American iconic interior designer Kelly Wearstler introduced brass a few years ago, and I was completely underwhelmed at the time. Her interpretation (above, from 2009) is way to maximalistic and over the top to fit the European/Scandinavian market, but the subdued versions you see here are simply to die for. I'm a crossover between the Scandinavian simplicity and the american maximalism (better known as Scandinavian Maximalism), and I'm definitely going to have lots of fun with it in the coming year.
A Scandinavian interpretation of the trend Wearstler started. The elements are smaller and more subdued, but definitely present in the space. Like here, the brass makes the room. It's all about the details; the popular gun lamp, the weels on the Howard club chairs etc.
What's your accent color? Do you agree on gold/brass?

The Last Gift tip of 2010!
The last gift tip of the year is of course edible, but also an incredibly chic styling object. It WILL make your coffee table look hot!
The first time I tasted macaroons, I decided I didn't like them very much. I thought they were over rated. Not for me.
And then, Hviit and I visited Sebastien Bruno (I met the Sebastian half of the team at the tea & chocolate course), and he proved me oh so wrong!
One of the most fun things with macaroons, is how much fun you can have with the flavors. My absolute favorite was the modern traditional, chocolate and chili. But I also loved passion fruit. And champagne. And raspberry.
All of the flavors are natural, so no artificial ingredients. The pistachio (green) is legendary.
Edible Christmas decor. Chocolate. Nuff said.
If you're going to be an idiot and not taste the macaroons, have a cake. I didn't taste them, but if they're as good as all the other stuff they make, you will die a little and go to heaven for a few minutes :)
Thank you so much Sebastien, for inviting us and ensuring I completely fell of my no sugar wagon. I ended up with almost a dozen macaroons (after tasting over a half dozen in the store too).
If you want to visit Sebastien Bruno, he's located in Skovveien 6A (via Frognerveien) in Oslo.
(perfect gift for the girlfriend that has everything)
xoxo
ps - If you thought I took these pics, you're of course dead wrong. They're by the fabulous Hviit :)

A New office and a Mood Bboard in the works!
I started my new job a few weeks ago, and it's an understatement to say it's been hectic. Work is work, and I love it when it's hectic, but the real challenge is combining work+family. My biggest challenge has proven to be making good and healthy dinners. The solution is dinner plans, and this week is the first one in ages where I know what to cook every day (and I purchased all the groceries on Saturday). Lots of incredibly exciting things going on, today, we started working on the second issue of our magazine (the first one isn't out yet).
I'm trying to make our office space a little bit more inspirational (they're temporary, until we move into new premises next fall), and the easiest way to do so, is make an inspiration board. I've already started working on it, and I have to admit, it's going to be HUGE!

I'm trying to make our office space a little bit more inspirational (they're temporary, until we move into new premises next fall), and the easiest way to do so, is make an inspiration board. I've already started working on it, and I have to admit, it's going to be HUGE!
I started out with some cork boards, but quickly realized they were too small...
If you want to make an inspiration board of your own that's NOT for a specific project, make sure to add enough elements so that it won't get boring too quickly.
Or use pins instead of tape, so you can easily rearrange, add or remove elements.
The best moodboards combines images, fabrics, wallpaper samples and other yummy stuff you keep laying around.
Have you started on yours yet? What's you biggest source of inspiration?

Home Tour: Traditional with a Twist in Nøtterøy
Scandinavian Chic co blogger and stylist, Rikke is currently in Vietnam, having the time of her life. Before she left, she and her man did a pretty exciting shoot for us in Tønsberg, Norway. Leo (Rikke's BF is a talented, up and coming Norwegian photographer). This home is a very good example of traditional and classic Scandinavian style with a little twist here and there :)

The Color of 2011!
Pantone just named Honeysuckle pink as the color of the year 2011!
And needless to say, I'm on the same page :)
I used to literally hate pink, but lately I’ve been warming up to it. I recently painted my credenza hot pink, and I’m totally loving it! It gives you so many styling options, and there’s a huge opportunity to have lots of fun with the decor.
I just ordered this pillow from Mariska Meijers, which will be a chic pop of color in the couch.
Pink can also be pretty neutral, as you can see here in this set of fine bone china from Finnish Elinno. You have no idea how GOOD your food looks on these plates!
If you’re not ready to commit to a pink piece of furniture, but is infatuated by the color, why not start with some fresh flowers like below?
Will you be getting any pink for your home in 2011?

And the Cupcake Challenge Winners are...
This season we're giving out two awards:
1. The Reader Favorite
2. The Cupcake Challenge Winner
The Reader Favorite is the bakery that the readers liked the most based on appearance. The bakeries mobilized their fans and our loyal readers voted for the bakery they thought were best on presentation.
------------
THE WINNER OF SEASON 2 OF THE CUPCAKE CHALLENGE 2010:
THE WINNER OF SEASON 2 OF THE CUPCAKE CHALLENGE 2010:
When judging the submissions from the different bakeries this season, we focused on three things:
1. Looks and how well they matched Dagny's credenza
2. Taste
3. Frosting
The winner of this season's Cupcake Challenge scored high on all three. She was most definitely in it to win it with a large variety in both flavors and frostings that tickled our senses. The presentation was exquisite and you could tell that she'd put a lot of thought into her work. The taste combinations were truly out of this world, and I have my fingers crossed that she's not out of town this Christmas, so I can order some of her amazing burnt almond and carmel cupcakes as the main dessert for our Christmas dinner.
Not One, But SIX Christmas Trees!
Our friends over at Rafens sent us this little Christmas gift, to my oldest daughter's excitement. It's a Christmas tree in a can! It was easy as pie, you open the lid, and start watering. After about a week, the first little three surfaced...
And now we have six little baby trees! We'll definitely be planting some of them out in the garden next summer, and our daughter will get to follow her tree in years to come. Who knows, maybe this is one of our future Christmas trees?
Can't wait for Christmas!!
xoxo
