Today's Project: Bed Linens
Sewing new bed linens for Indie's room.
This is probably the easiest DIY you can do. In addition to that, the room gets a completely personal look and feel to it.
A preview of her new bed here.
Hopefully, I'll be able to show you the result by the end of this week :) (we have dinner guests both today and tomorrow, so we'll see when I get to squeeze it in :))

Bookshelf - DIY Before and After!
After:
This is actually a regular PAX wardrobe module, that cost me NOK 600 (about $ 140).
I painted the back wall in the color Sval Lilje from Fargerike.
(please ignore the styling, it's not completely finished :))
Before:
I'm very happy with the result.
What do you think??

Today's Puzzle
The very awesome Sjövik buffet by IKEA has NOT found it's way to my home, and today I was supposed to be putting it together. The back wall is going to get a coat of paint in a color called Sval Lilje by Fargerike. :)
It's actually out of stock in Norway, and will not be added back to the inventory. Sooo... Sweden, here I come! (SUCKS BIGTIME, but I HAVE to have it!!)
Happy Wednesday

Projects in the Living & Dining Room
We have a new color palette in the works, and it's a combo of a plum color, and Sval Lilje from Fargerike (a sour yellow/ pale green)
My two bamboo chairs have both gotten av makeover, and are now plum, and the new buffet has been painted in Sval Lilje. (I'm planning to buy four more vintage chairs, all different styles, that will get the same color)
This is tonight's project; a new book shelf! The back wall will get a coat of Sval Lilje, and I'm OVER the moon to say the least!!! A BOOKSHELF!! FINALLY!!
WHOPIDOOO!!!
Happy happy happy Tuesday!!

SC in NYC: Celebration with a fancy touch
(Outside Le Bernardin in NYC, what an amazing place!)
Being foodies we love tasty matched with wine and we always prefer French over anything else - so French it was also this time. For you guys who love cooking shows you will know the owner and chef of Le Bernardin - Eric Ripert. He´s been a guest judge on Top Chef a few times and really know his way around the kitchen. His restaurant in the middle of the city is all about fish cooked french style with a twist and it has three stars in the Michelin guide! Wow, we were very excited!
It´s also one the nicest decorated restaurant I´ve ever been to, very classy with super comfy chairs and massive amounts of flowers. We decided to go for lunch, three courses with a perfect bottle of Chablis to accompany the food. Alas, after seven months on the go my camera needs a new lens and won´t work with me anymore so we didn´t really get any pics of the dishes. Except the dessert which was absolutely perfection.
This is what we had:
Thomas:
Sautéed shrimp wit mache and wild mushroom salad, shaved foie gras and white balsamic vinaigrette.
Poached halibut with braised artichoke, water chestnuts and bacon persian lime-scented truffle broth.
Chocolate-coconut with dark chocolate cremeux, cocoa sablée, mango, cashew and coconut sorbet.
Camilla:
Scallops slivers with mandarin puffs, scorched lemon and rosemary vinaigrette.
Baked skate and langoustine "paupiette" with charred shitake mushroom and brown buttered flavored dash broth.
Pistachio mousse with vanilla cream, lemon, raspberry pearls and pistachio ice-cream.
(The dessert is absolutely perfection - yum!)
Such a perfect day with perfect food and my lovely hubby... It´s only once a year - gotta celebrate right?! :)
Cheers from the city,

DIY in Progress: Indie's New Bed
My girls' bedroom has a very soft turquoisy shade of blue with a hint of green, and Indie just outgrew her old bed. She's getting the Minnen bed from IKEA. But you know we had to give it a makeover ;)
This looks neon pink, put it's actually a soft coral pink. :)
Any exciting ideas planned this summer??

Trend: Watercolor
Watercolors have been trend in fashion for a while now, and I LOVE how this has been adapted to interior design as well!
This home from Adore Home Magazine is the perfect example of how fresh it can look. I've found some reasonable alternatives if you want to copy the look:
Deco Muse from Swedish Wonderwall, a longtime favorite ($121)
Wisp by Shelley ($140)
by Vincen Zorizzo ($190)
Gemma - Silverridge Studio ($35)
Indian Mink2 - Silverridge Studios ($35)
Rosa by Silverridge Studio ($100)
What do you think about the trend?
Happy Wednesday!!

Kitchen planning: minimalism with a maximalistic touch
We're in the middle of planning our new kitchen, and we're going to get the Mano design from Kvik. It's pretty simple and minimalist. I'm a true Scandinavian Maximalist at heart, so we'll be adding a touch of glam here and there ;)
mano from Danish KVIK
backsplash
We're going to try to do something different, and a few options are being considered:
These tiles have a Moroccan feel to them, and would be the perfect contrast to the clean and minimalist lines of the kitchen.
Adding color is another simple move to make. We could paint the backsplash in Duck Egg Blue and cover it with plexiglass to avoid stains
There's no doubt that these silver mosaic tiles add a flair of glam. Still, a little to "clean lined", and at the bottom of my list.
Wallpaper is also a fun way to add personality. I love floral, organic wallpapers.
Marble could also be chic. I love the "veines" in this one.
Pulls
Mano is originally a design without handles, but I might be adding some vintage brass pulls to juxtapose the design
lighting
There's ONE thing I know for sure, Tom Dixon, you're coming home with me!!!

Corfu - Incredibly Inspiring!
This summer we decided to try something new, and went to Corfu, Greece for the holidays. I have to say, that I don't regret it a single second!!
Corfu is quite different than the usual greek islands, it's very influenced by it's Venetian history, both in food and the architecture & interior design. Cafe Bristol (above), was probably my favorite cafe, with beautiful and traditional floor tiles, paired with hi gloss painted chairs, and the beyond awesome light fixture above the bar.
Most of the buildings have intricate detailing.
This building was my absolute favorite, with perfectly symmetric window decor.
Pretty fantastic, isn't it??
Grand and romantic :)
Café Liston had probably the best Club Sandwich my husband had ever tasted, and fried potatoes that were out of this world! If you ever go there, try the larged mixed plate (or something like that). You get a HUGE plate for four people with the most delicious food (most from the grill, but also bruschetta, peppers etc). Best.food.ever!!)
Corfu Town also has two fortresses, which are really stunning. We visited one of them.
There's a small canal separating the fortress from the town.
We stayed at a spa hotel (Kontokali Bay, Resort & Spa) and it was absolutely perfect! We booked a family room, and it had everything we needed. The spa was spectacular, which I totally didn't expect!
It was ridiculously hot, and we had around 35 degrees (celsius) in the evenings.
The nature is also very different from the other Greek Islands, as it's incredibly green.
Another fortress on the west coast of the island that we climbed.
The water is turquoise, hot and absolutely beautiful, it practically BEGS you to get photographed!
This is probably what intrigued me the most. It's a fantastic old villa close to our hotel, which seems to be in pretty bad shape. It has this incredible aura of old glamour to it (like much of the island does), and I'm curious about who lived there, what the decor was like and what their lives were like.
This is the closest I got... It really looked incredible!! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could get closer to this house. (I will probably go back no matter what, I love, love, loved this island!!)
Hope you've had a FANTASTIC summer so far!!
Any exciting planned??
big hug
