Kitchen Inspiration - One Picture Only
As you know, we're ripping out our old and horrid kitchen, and have ordered a high gloss kitchen from Danish KVIK.
The image above shows a high gloss IKEA kitchen with brass campaign hardware, and I have ONE question..
WHERE CAN I FIND VINTAGE CAMPAIGN HARDWARE??
(what's the ebay search term? pulls?)
Anyways, don't you love it too?? Completely and utterly fabulous!

We Have a Pineapple in the House!
And I LOVE it!!
It actually opens up, so you can keep little secrets in there.. :)
And it has a sister! She's standing right opposite of the room, on top of the new IKEA buffet.
I think they're just lovely, and def a fun element of the decor.
What do you think about pineapples? Love 'em or leave 'em?

I'm Such A Weirdo
See Coco? She's been in my fridge for several weeks now.
Do you want to know why?
I thought that she looked sooo good, that I was nervous that I wouldn't like her.
Sigh..
Well, I tasted her today, and I can FINALLY confirm that coconut juice with banana tastes super good! Almost like a virgin pina colada :)
Happy Wednesday!!

SC in NYC: We've been hiking and hiking...
And of course we've been hiking. A lot. So much in fact that we've lost weight and gotten fit and feeling good in just two weeks!
(On top of the Independece Pass, entrance to Aspen)
We visited cities like Denver and Colorado Springs (loved the latter!), smaller towns like trendy, green and hippie-ish Boulder, cozy Frisco and Breckenridge where we walked a fourteener (ca 4300 moh) and stayed at a lovely and romantic b&b - Fireside Inn. And of course Aspen - my favorite amongst them, posh, stylish and so for the rich and famous.
I know Colorado is a skiers paradise and that it's a mecca come winter, but this really is paradise in the summertime. Nice, hot days and cooler nights (which makes sleeping wonderful and fresh compared to überhot NYC at this time of the year).

(Up close and personal in Rocky Mountains)
(A nice dinner at Gisella in Aspen)
We hiked almost a 60 miles or 100 km - and had some amazing views. I recommend going:) But today it's back to New York and Brooklyn, baby!
Xoxo from the moutains and the city,

Fall Just Arrived
in Oslo earlier this week. A few days ago, something happened, and the wonderful fall scent is in the air.
Fall is actually my favorite season, and I'm crossing my fingers for some sun filled months (contrary to what we've had this summer), amazing colors and regular hikes. It's so important to me to enjoy this fantastic season with everything it has to offer.
So here's what's on my agenda for the next few months:
It's probably not going to happen, but I would have loved to sit outside in the evenings, with a small bonfire, tons of blankets and hot chocolate with whipped cream, while enjoying good conversations or an interesting book.

Create some fun fall outfits (will def happen!!):
Ready for fall by scandinavianchic featuring tory burch tote
Tear out our shitty old kitchen: (yeah!!)
Go for long hikes every as often as possible:

Hang wallpaper in our dining room / livingroom (yes, I will be doing it, the hubby is refusing, since it was only three years since we last had it done)

What have you got planned up for this fall??

SC in NYC: Here´s my favorite island
I´ve a few days off and decided to go to Martha´s Vineyard – all by myself! It´s about three hours by train from New York and takes another two with a ferry to go out to this wonderful island.

(Gingerbreadhouses of Oaks Bluffs.)
I went all over the island which consists of three towns and a few smaller villages. I jumped from the 2nd bridge (Jaws where filmed here!!), had a whole lobster, looked at the amazing architecture of the famous gingerbreadhouses and relaxed on the porch with a glass of wine in the evenings.

(My very own lobster - enjoyed in the sun at Larsen´s in Menemsha).
What a holiday! I really love both cities and islands – and Martha´s Vineyard was just perfect!
XOXO from the city,

The Ultimate Breakfast in the Perfect Bowl
Morning!
My ultimate breakfast is what my dictionary is telling me is called rolled oats (?) or havregryn, with fresh fruit, cinnamon, linseeds, raisins and rice milk
Today I used bananas & blueberries. YUM!
Finished in like 2 seconds.
The bowl is from my everyday+the occational dinner party fine bone china, which is a mix of Finnish Elinno's stunning collections: New Willow (my daughter's favorite), Morning Flirt, Bite of Beauty (my fave!!), and a few pieces from Blue Peony (the same design as the bowl above). The next pattern I'm DYING to implement to my collection is Love in the Air:
Do you have more than one set of china? Or do you just not care about it? This is totally my guilty pleasure...
Happy Monday!!

Hummingbirds in the Livingroom
Every now and then I have the need for some serious change in our home. I'm not just talking new cushions or a vase, but big changes. Like right now, I'm craving a new kitchen (check), building extension to the kitchen (check), new flooring (not check), new wallpaper in our living room / dining room (almost check), and I want to reupholster our headboard in the bedroom (SO not check!).
While this is the fun part of owning a house for me, it's kind of stressful for the hubby (as he usually ends up with the projects). When it comes to wallpapering our living & dining room, he's totally refusing to have it re-wallpapered. Which means I'm going to have to do it myself. and I WILL do it myself, love DIY! However he's super skeptical about my wallpapering skills. I'll just have to prove him wrong, won't I??
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of colors. HUGE! Things really came into place over the summer, when I painted the back wall of our bookshelf and buffet plus the entire credenza in Sval Lilje and dining room chairs in Jubileum (both available from Fargerike only). Talk about inspiring colors!
Early this summer, we did a styling (which turned out fantastic!) for the fall issue of base, and used this wallpaper:
This is what it's currently looks like: (I know, the photo is HORRIBLE! Bad angle, bad lighting, bad lamp shade, bad everything (good credenza though))
When working on a complicated color scheme/palette, it's important to be 100% sure that it works before you put it into action.
When we look at the closeup of the pattern (which is actually dates from 1755(!), you'll see that the shade of green is actually a darker shade of Sval Lilje, which makes them a perfect match. The body of the hummingbirds has areas that are identical in color to the Jubileum painted chairs. We're also going to be adding a contrast color, which will remain a secret for now (curtains have been ordered ;)).
Here's two examples of how the hummingbird design can look:
In this photo from Norwegian Boligpluss, it's been used in a kids room, which is so awesome. Love the mint green mirror, a very interesting choice of contrast color! (but not the one we're using ;))
This styling is SO up my alley. Love the brass paired with yellow and plum. It's still very different from the direction we're headed. Image from here.
I'm hoping to get the wallpapering done within the next 4-5 weeks, but have to convince a girlfriend that it's the perfect way to spend a Saturday first ;)
Do you have any exciting plans for your home? What do you think about Hummingbirds?
Happy Sunday!!
big hug

ps - the wallpaper is available from Fargerike and comes in several different and equally fabulous colorways

A Change for the Better?
If you're a color enthusiast like I am, there's one magazine you HAVE to read, and it's called House Beautiful. HB is a US magazine that shows pretty traditional interiors, but with a very clear focus on the colors. They're also teaching how to pick your color schemes, and talk to talented designers about their favorite colors.
HB has gone though what I would call a BLAH period with their new EiC, Newell Turner, but I'm going to be patient, and wait for him to get in shape. I think that the magazine has improved with their newly launched columns, but that the home tours are not as fantabulous as they used to be.

The magazine has already launched some new columns (which I love), and are launching their second batch in the September issue.
Master Class is the one I have the highest expectations for.
Do you read House Beautiful?
Love it or leave it? Do you like the changes they've done the past few months, or do you prefer the way it used to be with Stephen Drucker?
Happy Thursday!

I'm inspired!
This works quite well, doesn't it?? (It's not like Anna Spiro from ABT can do anything wrong either, is it.. ;))
I'm absolutely LOVING the winter vignette for her new online shop, Anna Spiro's Absolutey Beautiful Things. (click to visit)
I think the orange urn is SUCH a good idea! Think I have to head home and try it out myself. Such a great way to bring a little oomph to something that's usually linked to more classical decor.
Are you inspired?
I know I am!
Happy Tuesday!!

Come to Mama!
I just bought this photograph from US artist Little Miss Jubilee on etsy. It's HUGE, 70x100 cm / 30x42 inches, and it's going to be right over our lounge sofa, not too far away from the bookshelf. The colors are pure perfection, and the bottom yellow rose is the perfect match for the new credenza and book shelf :) Yay!
Check out more of her artwork here
Happy Monday, everyone!!
